A man was killed in a shooting that occurred in southeast Shelby County on Monday morning. He was shot for trying to confront car burglars.
Just before 3 a.m., Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene of a house on Cutter Mill Road.
Fernando Jones, 41, was transported to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition and subsequently declared deceased.
SCSO officials confirmed the Jones witnessed someone trying to break into a car in his driveway. After shouting and opening the front door, he was shot multiple times.
There is a homicide investigation going on now.
