LOCAL | Tigers Fall To Alabama In Final Exhibition Basketball Game, 96-88

The Memphis Tigers lost 96-88 to No. 2 Alabama on Monday night to conclude preseason play.

Their final exhibition game was played at Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Tigers were behind 49-29 at the half after shooting struggles. That changed in the second half, though, as the Tigers outscored the Crimson Tide 59-47. It still wasn’t enough to win, but enough for the momentum and confidence of the team to be boosted ahead of their season opener next Monday.

The team’s top scorer, PJ Haggerty, scored 32 points in 35 minutes, four assists, four steals, and a team-high nine rebounds. In 19 minutes, Dain Dainja scored 16 points, pulled down seven rebounds, and made 6 of 12 shots from the field.

Memphis tips off their first game of the regular season at the FedEx Forum, Monday, November 4, at 7 p.m. Tiger Basketball broadcasts can be heard at the flagship station of Tiger sports on Newstalk 98.9 FM, The Roar of Memphis.
