The department store chain Macy’s announced on Thursday that the branch store in East Memphis’ Oak Court Mall would close.
It is anticipated that the Oak Court Macy’s would close sometime during the first quarter of this year.
The last Macy’s in the Memphis area will be the one in Wolfchase Galleria.
“Closing any store is never easy, but as part of our Bold New Chapter strategy, we are closing underproductive Macy’s stores to allow us to focus our resources and prioritize investments in our go–forward stores,” Tony Spring, chairman and chief executive officer of Macy’s, Inc. said in a news release.
