During the weekend snowfall, a manager of a grocery store in Frayser shot the getaway driver in an attempt to protect himself and others from the armed shoplifters.
According to Memphis Police, the incident took place at Gordin’s Foods & Butcher Shop on Thomas Street.
Three suspects were seen carrying carts full of food out of the store, and the manager followed them into the parking lot.
At that moment, the getaway driver stepped out, fired a shot into the air, and threatened the manager.
The thieves then fled after the manager fired his own weapon and shot the getaway driver.
The suspects were later apprehended by MPD in Regional One and all were arrested and charged.
The getaway driver, Robby Wooten, is still in the hospital receiving medical care.
