LOCAL | Woman Charged With Cashing Sister’s Check Worth Nearly $7000

Police say a woman was arrested Monday for cashing a check last month for almost $7000 that belonged to her sister.

36-year-old Erica Johnson is charged with identity theft, criminal impersonation, forgery, and theft of property worth between $2,500 and $10,000.

According to authorities, Johnson reported last December, that she never received her $6,921.35 insurance settlement payment.

Later, she was caught on camera cashing the check at a convenience store in Frayser with her sister’s ID card.

She is being held on a $2,500 bond and will appear in court on Wednesday.
