The Department of Homeland Security has released details of the actions taken Monday at the TacoNGanas food truck Germantown Parkway & Macon Rd. The alleged “ICE” raid was actually three agents from the investigations division of homeland security and detained three employees as part of the ongoing investigation into potential human trafficking practices that began under the Biden administration in November 2022. The allegations then involved recruiting on Facebook for taco cooks living in Mexico to come work in Memphis six days a week, 12 hours a day, and the owner strongly implied he was willing to bring them to the United States illegally. Three of the posts reportedly stated “The trip is not with a visa but 100% safe.”
The report says that two of the three men arrested, have prior criminal convictions for immigration-related violations.
