PROTESTS | Sheffield High School Students Hold Walkouts In Protest Of Their Staff

On Tuesday morning, Sheffield High School students expressed their frustration through walkouts and protests.

Students addressed the staff members in a letter written to Dr. Roderick Richmond, the interim superintendent. The students stated that they don’t feel appreciated or safe.

The letter also lists other problems including a shortage of teachers, locked bathroom doors, and penalties for dress code infractions.

Students have created a petition with almost 400 signatures, expressing their desire for new leadership.

In response, Memphis-Shelby County Schools stated Tuesday morning that they are looking into the claims and will take appropriate action.
