LOCAL | SCSO Confirms Kristin Fundo Was Not Drugged; Ruled ‘Probable Drowning’

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, a woman who drove into a Cordova Pond after leaving a restaurant in Collierville was not under the influence of drugs; rather, she was intoxicated.

On February 28, divers discovered the body of 35-year-old Kristen Fundo inside her submerged car in a retention pond on Grays Hollow Drive South while she was still wearing her seatbelt.

Chief Deputy Anthony Buckner announced at a press conference on Monday afternoon that her death was determined to be an accident.

That was verified by an autopsy report that stated “probable drowning” as the cause of death.

Fundo also had a blood alcohol level of 0.279, more than three times the legal limit, according to a toxicological study.

A probable drink tampering investigation into Casa Mexicana, where Fundo was before her death, and other Mexican restaurants was carried out. No evidence of any tampering through video footage was discovered.

No illegal substances or drugs were found in her system, as well.
